The Oriental Fashion Show is a creative platform for international designers to showcase their high couture creations. Previously held in France, the show relished in its Parisian culture and the capital of the fashion industry. This year the show was held at majestic Marrakech, known as the imperial city of Morocco. Filled with impeccable beauty and rich culture, the city appeared perfect to host the show in. Raishma was honourably invited to present her Spring Summer 18 range, Rai resort wear and finally, decadent couture wear.
About each collection
Spring Summer 18 Inspired by Victorian green houses, Raishma’s Spring Summer 18 collection, evokes nostalgia and romanticism. The soft colour palette paired with ethereal fabrics such as georgette and silk, embody the angelic spirit of this collection. Each piece is either intricately hand beaded or is has detailed thread work on the overlaying fabric, which adds an adoring touch. RAI Resort wear Focusing on coral reef and the aquatic nature, the collection exuded vibrancy through colour and print. The pairing of light weight fabrics and flattering cut, created complementary silhouettes for any body shape. The versatility of the kaftans was highly appreciated. Subtly embellished around the neck, Raishma still incorporates hand beading, which she is known for. Couture range Regal and affluent. Raishma marries together delicate and intricate artisan skills such as impeccable hand beading and thread work. Raishma’s designs encapsulate her philosophy by marrying high quality fabrics with great artisan skills, impeccable cut silhouettes and a meticulous eye to details.
The runway
Raishma previewed her resort and ready to wear collection on Friday and couture on Saturday, where international designers were requested to showcase a capsule collection. Containing shirts, trousers, skirts and dresses, Raishma delivered an interesting range of garments. The collection effectively reflected the brand and gave clients a clear taste of the Raishma aesthetic. The runway was held at the renowned Royal Mansoor hotel, hosting an intimate VIP collection of clients such as members from the Moroccan embassy. Furthermore, the event attracted a fair amount of press and media from the Saudi magazine and Moroccan TV. It was an honourable experience to be showcased in an acclaimed atmosphere and thrilled with the positive response towards the collection.
