As we mourn the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, we take the time to reflect on how inspiring the Queen was to everyone across the globe. During her 70-year reign, the Queen proved herself to be a prominent figure of female empowerment and powerful leadership.
Here are some of the Queen's most notable moments:

On 13 October 1940, the Queen made her first public speech where she offered comfort to children of the Commonwealth who were separated from their families and loved ones by the war.

She championed the Succession to the Crown Act, reforming old sexist ideals.

She set a new precedent for royal children to be schooled outside of the palace, aiming to improve the education of fellow royals.

She was the first monarch to attend a London Fashion Week show.

In 2003 when Abdullah, the-then Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, visited the Queen at Balmoral, she took it upon herself to drive the Prince around since at that time it was illegal for women to drive in Saudi Arabia.

During WWII, her Majesty joined the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service where she trained as a mechanic and a military truck driver.
